EU Advocacy Lead

Salary Range: €65,000 – €74,000 gross

Razom We Stand is at the forefront of the global movement to end fossil fuel dependency and accelerate a clean energy transition. We are seeking an experienced EU Advocacy Lead to spearhead our European policy and advocacy efforts, ensuring that Ukraine’s energy transition remains a priority in EU decision-making. This role is pivotal in influencing policymakers, crafting impactful policy recommendations, and mobilizing support for a fossil-free future.

The EU Advocacy Lead will work closely with the team, translating research and campaign strategies into actionable advocacy initiatives that align with Razom We Stand’s mission. They will represent the organization in key European policy spaces, engage with EU institutions, and support efforts to secure funding and strategic partnerships.

Core Responsibilities

1. Policy Advocacy and Analysis

  • Monitor, analyze, and evaluate EU policies, legislative proposals, and geopolitical developments related to Ukraine’s clean energy transition and fossil fuel phase-out.
  • Develop and implement advocacy strategies to advance key policy objectives, collaborating closely with internal teams and partner organizations.
  • Ensure Razom We Stand’s priorities are integrated into EU climate, energy, and foreign policy discussions.
  • Prepare policy briefs, position papers, and reports to inform stakeholders and influence decision-making processes.

2. Stakeholder Engagement and Representation

  • Build and maintain relationships with EU institutions, national governments, think tanks, NGOs, and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent Razom We Stand at EU policy meetings, consultations, conferences, and high-level discussions.
  • Strengthen collaborations with European partners to amplify advocacy efforts.
  • Organize policy dialogues, briefings, and public events to raise awareness and support for Ukraine’s renewable energy transition.

3. Strategic Campaign and Program Integration

  • Work closely with Razom We Stand’s campaigners, researchers, and communications team to align policy efforts with advocacy campaigns.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate policy advocacy with grassroots mobilization for a strategic and unified approach.
  • Support fundraising efforts by contributing to policy-driven funding proposals and engaging with donors focused on climate and energy justice.

4. Research and Policy Innovation

  • Conduct in-depth research on EU climate finance, energy security, and fossil fuel divestment strategies.
  • Track best practices from other regions and propose innovative policy solutions for Ukraine’s energy transition.
  • Leverage data, expert insights, and case studies to strengthen Razom We Stand’s policy recommendations.

Essential Skills and Experience

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in EU policy, advocacy, or research, ideally within the climate, energy, or foreign policy sectors.

Strong understanding of EU institutions, policymaking processes, and climate & energy regulations.

Proven track record in developing and implementing successful advocacy campaigns.

Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, funders, and media.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English (knowledge of Ukrainian or another European language is an asset).

Ability to translate complex policy issues into clear, compelling messaging.

Strong project management and organizational skills, capable of handling multiple priorities.

Passion for ending fossil fuels, supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty, and advancing climate justice.
