The Head of Strategic Programs at Razom We Stand plays a crucial role in senior leadership, blending strategic insight with practical program and people management to further the organization’s mission to end fossil fuel addiction in Ukraine, Europe, and globally. 

This position serves as a vital advisor to the Executive Director, linking strategic program planning with operational execution to ensure alignment with the organization’s key objectives in ending fossil fuels, driving climate action, energy justice, and policy impact.

In this role, the Head of Strategic Programs oversees and manages Razom We Stand’s most critical staff and programs, guiding their development, implementation, and assessment. It requires a strong ability to promote internal collaboration, engage with external partners, and uphold program quality and compliance standards. 

The Head of Strategic Programs collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that all initiatives are strategically focused, efficiently executed, and responsive to changes in the external landscape.

Core Responsibilities

1. Strategic Program Development and Leadership

  • Works closely with the Executive Director to develop and implement program strategies that support Razom We Stand’s long-term objectives.
  • Acts as a strategic advisor, involving the Executive Director in key decision-making moments and ensuring transparency regarding project milestones.
  • Takes the lead in creating work plans, strategic roadmaps, and detailed program budgets, remaining flexible for real-time adjustments as needed.

2. Program Planning and Execution

  • Creates and manages comprehensive program roadmaps, including timelines, resource distribution, and milestones to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Oversees multiple high-impact programs, ensuring they meet Razom We Stand’s standards and achieve measurable results.
  • Stays informed about industry trends, using insights to boost program effectiveness and impact.

3. Communication and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Helps with high-level communications for the Executive Director, including reports, presentations, and public-facing materials that effectively convey the organization’s mission.
  • Serves as a liaison between senior leadership and stakeholders, ensuring clear and consistent messaging.
  • Represents Razom We Stand at relevant events, conferences, and media engagements, fostering relationships with partners, funders, and allies.
  • Helps to develop and execute fundraising strategies to support key program initiatives, build relationships with stakeholders, and secure financial resources to advance strategic organizational objectives.

4. Team Leadership and management 

  • Manages the senior program staff, fostering a collaborative and motivated team environment.
  • Provides mentorship and regular check-ins, offering support for challenges and recognizing achievements.
  • Implements performance management practices that establish measurable goals, conduct evaluations, and encourage accountability.

5. Project Management Tools, MEL  and Reporting

  • Uses tools like Asana to plan, assign, and track project progress, making sure tasks are finished on schedule.
  • Keeps leadership updated with performance reports, offering clarity on program status and important metrics.
  • Promotes innovation within programs to maintain their relevance and effectiveness, incorporating new strategies and methods when advantageous..
  • Develop tailored Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) frameworks to meet program needs, incorporating KPIs to measure success.
  • Analyzes program data to showcase achievements, pinpoint areas for improvement, and provide actionable insights to leadership.

6. Goal Setting and Tracking (OKRs)

  • Collaborates with program and campaign teams to establish OKRs that align with Razom We Stand’s strategic goals.
  • Incorporates OKRs into project management systems for continuous tracking and conducts quarterly reviews to evaluate goal progress.
  • Modifies goals and strategies as needed, ensuring programs stay aligned with organizational objectives.

7. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Facilitates collaboration across departments to ensure smooth program execution.
  • Leads team meetings and knowledge-sharing initiatives to promote a culture of learning and growth.
  • Adapts strategies based on feedback from internal staff and external stakeholders, enhancing organizational agility and responsiveness.
  • Ensures that all program activities meet legal, contractual, and ethical compliance standards.

8. High-Quality Program Delivery

  • Takes responsibility for the quality of programs, addressing issues as they come up and ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards.
  • Encourages a culture of ongoing improvement, reflecting Razom We Stand’s dedication to impactful, high-quality work.

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • At least 10 years in a senior program leadership or campaign strategy position, demonstrating a strong ability to engage a variety of stakeholders and implement complex global strategies.
  • A solid understanding of the political and economic factors surrounding fossil fuels and the shift to clean energy, particularly within European and global contexts.
  • Exceptionally good manager 
  • Proficient in project management, especially in managing relationships among various stakeholders.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging, informing, and inspiring stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven track record of development and implementation of impactful campaigns and programs
  • Proven track record of managing multicultural teams and promoting inclusivity, creating a collaborative work environment.
  • A strong commitment to climate action and renewable energy transition, with a genuine enthusiasm for ending fossil fuels and autocratic regimes funded by them.
