While Trump Meets Zelensky, New Reporting Shows US Firm SLB Helps Keep Russian Oil – and War Revenues – Flowing

Press Release – 29 Dec 2025

As the Russian Christmas bombing campaign continues through the holiday season with deadly outcomes across Ukraine, continuing up to yesterday’s Trump-Zelensky meeting, new research reveals that US energy company SLB continues to collaborate with Russia. In ongoing support for Russia’s energy sector, new reports today claim that SLB has made engineering drawings for specialized oil-extraction equipment, and further production contracts between SLB’s Russian subsidiary and domestic manufacturers were exposed.

While other US energy firms like Halliburton and Baker Hughes moved to exit their Russian operations following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, SLB has continued collaboration with Russia, even employing thousands and making 4% of it’s worldwide revenues, or $1.4 billion, last year according to the SLB’s own web-site, and the Financial Times. Such collaboration with Russia’s energy sector, its main source of war funding earning over $1 trillion in revenue from fossil fuel exports, directly contributes to horrific suffering in Ukraine.

Dr Svitlana Romanko, Founder and Executive Director of Razom We Stand, said:
“The biggest thing we Ukrainians wish for during these holidays is peace, yet Putin continues to deliver only brutal attacks. If the US administration wants to deliver on its goal to bring peace, now is the time to put the blame on those responsible for funding war. The problem is Russia, and their war is paid for mostly by energy exports, kept flowing with the help of US firm SLB. As long as Russian fossil fuels continue to reach global markets, Putin retains the financial oxygen to prolong the war and reject genuine peace.”

“If US firms like SLB are continuing to help Russia’s energy sector, which raises billions for bombs, rockets and drones, an obvious solution is for the US President to end the ability of SLB to help keep Russian energy flowing. During these holidays, more than ever we need not just words, but concrete actions, to force Russia to stop its horrific attacks. President Trump must end SLB collaboration with Russia now.”

Ukraine itself has gone further than Western governments, adding SLB to its list of international war sponsors. In its 2023 designation, the Ukrainian National Agency for Corruption Prevention wrote; “the American company SLB plays a critical role for Russia, occupying 8% of the Russian oil-service market.” The agency noted that SLB itself had acknowledged contributing more than $4.5 billion in taxes to the Russian economy and employing thousands across factories and service centers inside the country.

Last year our organisation, Razom We Stand, wrote to US government officials to insist that SLB be banned from all collaboration with Russia’s energy sector. We now call on the Trump administration to turn the President’s words calling for peace into concrete measures that will help dry up Russia’s war chest, finally drive Putin towards ending the war, and bringing a just peace to Ukraine.
